More About Karen

Karen feels grateful to now be focused on the pediatric population, as she enjoys empowering children in their journey of speech and feeding development. Her clinical experience includes providing therapy in the hospital, private practice, preschool, home, and school settings with people of all ages. Her specific interests include pediatric feeding, language development, articulation, and voice disorders. While pursuing her graduate degree in Boston, Karen was a member of the Northeastern University Student Speech Language and Hearing Association, as well as the National Speech Language and Hearing Association. Karen has enjoyed the opportunity to provide therapy to children diagnosed with Receptive-Expressive Language Disorder, Dysphagia, Phonological Disorder, Childhood Onset Fluency Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Apraxia, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Karen has enjoyed clinical experiences working in the Boston public school system in a language literacy program with children in Kindergarten, as well as in the Malden public school system in Massachusetts to provide evaluations and therapy to kids in grades K-12.

Karen spent time at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary working with patients on vocal rehabilitation and post-laryngectomy care. While there, she completed voice evaluations, conducted voice therapy, and assisted with tracheoesophageal prosthesis care. Karen discovered her passion for pediatric speech and feeding therapy during her time at a private practice in Beverly, Massachusetts, that conducted feeding and swallowing evaluations, speech and language evaluations, and therapy with children and adults. She actively observed many instrumental evaluations that included FEES and videostroboscopy feeding evaluations, as well as conducted feeding, speech and language, and voice therapy.
